The ULTIMATE bikini competition show day checklist!

Looking smarmy because I’ve packed everything…

Looking smarmy because I’ve packed everything…

I’ve seen a few girls, many competing for the first time, asking recently just what exactly they are going to need on show day. If you’ve never competed before it is hard to know and even if you have,  your brain isn’t exactly functioning at its optimal levels right now to remember everything.

Prep brain is a totally legitimate thing people. The other day I tried to put my meal prep in the dishwasher - so that’s where we are at right now.

On top of that you’re super emotional 95% of the time (the other 5% you’re asleep), so rational decisions are not something you have much capacity for at this point.

A skill inherited from my mother, The Queen of Lists (just ask dad), you can bet I have a list for every and any occasion, as well as a slew of wonderfully colour-coded spreadsheets (they very much spark joy).

Although I’ve only competed once before myself, I spent years and years dancing on the theatre stage when I was young. I’ve found the best thing you can do is be prepared for ANY eventuality. And failing that, come find me, because I will have what you need.

Below, I’ve written out a check list of all the things you will (and might) need to make sure you are prepared for anything on comp day!

The night before comp!

The night before I highly recommend:

  • Making sure your suitcase is packed with all of the above

  • Prepping any food you need for the day

  • Laying out the outfit you’re going to wear to the venue (must be suitable for tanning / HMU)

  • Printing anything out you think you might need in terms of addresses, tickets, itineraries

  • RELAXING!

You want to make sure you’re making minimal decisions on the morning of (and even the week of) comp. Your sole focus should be the final tweaks for peak week and getting ready for the stage!

I already have a corner of my room with a pile of comp related items that I just keep adding to as I buy something or remember to pack something. I’m aiming to be packed and ready to go the weekend before!

Hopefully this list is helpful for some of you competing soon! Don’t forget to print it out and tick it off as you pack (tag me if you do!) and let me know if you think I should add something!
